What we do / Design and development

Merchandise designed as a collection, developed to the tech pack.

GEKKO Agency is a merch design agency with its own studio in Rotterdam. From brief to tech pack, it designs merchandise as a collection, develops the garments and the packaging, and makes the samples before anything goes into production. It is the first link of a chain that has served 500+ clients since 2013, and the reason the piece in the fan's hands looks intentional.

What does a merch design agency do for you?

  • Concept and collection

A direction for the whole drop or programme, not a logo on a blank.

  • Artwork

Prints, embroidery, labels and graphics, drawn for the technique they will be made in.

  • Garment development

Construction, fit, fabric and trims chosen for the piece and the price point.

  • Tech pack

Measurements, materials, placements and finishing, so production makes exactly what was approved.

  • Sampling

Fitting and pre-production samples, adjusted with you before anything is produced.

  • Packaging

Tags, polybags, boxes and inserts in the same brand language as the piece.

What else do clients ask?

Can you work with our own designer or artwork?

Yes. GEKKO Agency develops your artwork into garments, tech packs and samples, or works alongside your designer. Designs you supply stay yours.

Do you develop garments, or only prints?

Garments. Construction, fit, fabric and trims are developed per piece; the print or embroidery is designed for that garment and that technique.

How many rounds are included?

A direction round, a design round and two sample rounds are usual. What is included is agreed per project, before we start; no figures on this page because they depend on the collection.

Where does design happen?

In our own studio in Rotterdam, next to the warehouse, so the designer sees the sample, the print and the packed box.

Who owns the designs?

Patterns and designs GEKKO develops remain GEKKO's property; a buy-out is possible. Designs you supply stay yours. This is agreed before development starts.
