MOQ explained: why 250 pieces per style per colour
Short answer: because GEKKO Agency produces your fabrics and colours to order, and below 250 pieces per style per colour a custom fabric or colour is not viable. Here is what that means for your collection, what the number covers, and what the routes are if you need fewer than 250.

What does MOQ mean?
MOQ is the minimum order quantity: the smallest number of pieces a producer will make of one style in one colour. It exists because fabric is woven or knitted and dyed in batches, and because setting up a production line costs the same whether you make 50 pieces or 500.
Why 250 pieces per style per colour at GEKKO Agency?
Because we do not pick fabrics and colours from a shelf. For a private label collection we produce your fabric in your colour, to your weight and composition, with your labels and trims. A fabric mill has its own minimum per colour; below roughly 250 garments' worth of fabric, a custom colour is either impossible or so expensive per piece that the collection no longer works. We would rather tell you that on this page than in a quote.
What counts as one style, and one colour?
A style is one garment with one construction: a hoodie is a style, the same hoodie with a different pocket is a second style. A colour is one dyed fabric: black and off-black are two colours. So 250 pieces of one hoodie in one colour meets the minimum; 125 black and 125 grey does not.
What if you need fewer than 250?
Two routes, both agreed per project. One: for a first run, a locally printed or embroidered blank with a neck print or an embroidered neck label can be the right product, and we will say so when it is. Two: occasionally we have leftover fabric from an earlier production that allows a smaller side run. The specifications page lists both, next to the lead times and the samples.
And one piece of advice rather than a route: launch with fewer styles and more depth per style. A first collection of three strong pieces sells better than eight thin ones, and each of the three can reach 250.
If it is team or company clothing rather than a retail collection, the minimum depends on the route: an adapted model from our range goes lower than a fully custom garment, and the exact minimum is in the quote. The page on corporate clothing explains the three routes.
How do you plan a first collection around it?
Start from your sales channel: how many pieces can you sell in a season, per style, realistically? Work back to two to four styles that clear 250 each in one or two colours. Bring that to the first conversation together with your references or tech pack, and a dedicated project manager tells you within two working days whether the numbers, the fabrics and the timeline fit. The production request asks exactly those questions.
