Private label / Specifications
As of 16 October 2026
Before you ask.
Everything you want to know before you get in touch with GEKKO Agency about private label production, in one place. The minimum order quantity is 250 pieces per style per colour, and this page explains why, along with lead times, samples, fabrics, certifications, who owns the patterns, how quality is controlled and what we do not do. Where a figure depends on your project, we say so.
01
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
From 250 pieces per style per colour, because we produce your fabrics and colours to order instead of picking from stock; below 250 a custom fabric or colour is not viable.
Two routes remain for smaller numbers, both agreed per project:
- Locally printed or embroidered blanks: a neck print or an embroidered neck label on an existing garment.
- Occasionally, leftover fabric from an earlier production that allows a smaller side run.
02
How long does it take?
Approximately 2 weeks of sampling, 4 to 8 weeks of production and 2 weeks of transport. The range depends on the project and the materials: custom fabric development and unusual colours take longer, a finished tech pack and fabrics from our library go faster. We give you an indicative project timeline at step 01 and tell you when it changes.
03
What do samples cost, and how many rounds?
Two sample rounds are usual. Typically a fitting sample and a pre-production sample; more if the style asks for it. One total quote for the whole project before we start; samples are part of it. No figures on this page, because they depend on the garment.
04
Which fabrics and weights can you use?
A standard library per category, and custom development where the brand needs it. In the library, among others: single jersey cotton, cotton blends, organic cotton, recycled fibres, bamboo, washed and stonewashed finishes, unbrushed and brushed fleece, diagonal fleece, diagonal terry, backbrush fleece, piqué, woven twill.
05
Which certifications can you provide?
Certifications such as GOTS and OEKO-TEX, and SMETA audits, are available per production and issued to the production house. We tell you which apply to your production and show the scope: which fabric, which step, which audit. We do not claim certifications GEKKO does not hold.
06
Who owns the patterns and designs?
Patterns and designs GEKKO develops remain GEKKO's property; a buy-out is possible. Designs you supply stay yours. This is agreed before development starts.
07
How is quality controlled?
Full quality checks at the production partner and again in Rotterdam before anything ships. The approved pre-production sample is the standard. Development and quality control in detail.
08
How do payment and delivery work?
Payment terms are agreed per project, in the total quote you receive before we start. Delivery to your address, or storage in our warehouse in Rotterdam with fulfilment and a store run by GEKKO, if you want the chain to continue after production.
09
What do you not do?
We do not produce custom fabrics or colours below 250 pieces per style per colour; smaller numbers only through the two routes above. We do not take on one-off drops without a sales channel. And we do not claim certifications, locations or capacity we cannot show. If print on demand serves you better, we say so.
10
Can you also store, sell and ship the collection?
Yes. That is the rest of the chain: our own warehouse at Van Graftstraat 10 in Rotterdam, a store built and run by GEKKO, shipping to 36+ countries, customer service and returns in your name. Optional, and quoted separately. Merch fulfilment from our own warehouse.
11
Do you name the brands you produce for?
We do not name our private label clients. The brand is theirs; the development and production are ours.
